Sony's official unboxing video is
the absolute opposite of the
reverent teardown we saw last
week. Where that was conducted
with art-historian meticulousness,
this is menacingly scored, set in a
bunker, and with a brown-gloved
stranger. If there's a finer way to
confirm that the PS4 comes with an
HDMI cable, I can't possibly
imagine it.
Best of all, there's a reveal at the
end that makes no sense
whatsoever unless you're intimately
familiar with Sony's corporate
hierarchy:
What do you get in the box? A
network voucher, a quick start
guide, one DualShock 4 controller,
that HDMI cable, a power cord (no
clunky brick here), a mono headset,
a USB cable for charging the
controller, and the 500GB PS4
itself, held up to a heavenly
spotlight like a fabled relic.
I'm reliably informed that the man
with the driving gloves is Shuhei
Yoshida, president of Sony
Worldwide Studios, who tells us,
"Greatness awaits." We'll be
awaiting greatness a little longer
here in the UK than in the US,
where the PS4 goes on sale this
Friday.
Do you think Sony should include
more in the box? Let me know
what you think in the comments
below, or over on our Facebook
page.
