"%LocalAppData%\Microsoft
\Windows"

and hit Enter to open Windows Explorer to the location of the Start screen
layout files.

Step 3: Copy the files, "appsFolder.itemdata-ms" and "appsfolder.itemdata-ms.bak" to your backup folder.

If something happens to your Start screen layout and you want to restore it, just copy
the backup files back to the original location and overwrite the files already in the folder.

Step 4:- Have you checked your hardware? :-

Did you connect a remote hard drive, a printer, photocopier or a scanner recently?
Remove the devices one at a time and reboot your computer to determine whether hardware is what’s slowing your PC down.

Step 5 :-Your computer memory space :-

Make sure that your hard drive is not almost exhausted – if it is;
add a remote drive or replace the drive you have with a larger one.
Make sure you have enough RAM to handle what you’re
doing on your computer. At least, you should have a gigabyte of RAM.

Several applications are available that claim to clean up your PC and make it run faster. Some might be helpful and healthy for your computer.

Step 7 :- You have too much files :-

Uninstall any applications, software, and
browser plugins and toolbars as well that you no longer find
useful. Even music, videos, pictures (in general, sanitize your system).
If you don’t keep up with
uninstalling programs then all of a sudden your computer will become stuffed up and slow. You can speed up your computer performance by
simply not storing files you don’t need. Ask yourself this question, what's this file doing on my system? No genuine reason, delete it!

Make sure you download and install the latest updates and patches for your operating system as I have explained earlier. Updates are there for a reason and usually a very good reason. Ignoring them
only means you would be running obsolete softwares.

Step 9:- New hardware :-

If your computer already has at least an Intel Core 2 processor, you could replace your current hard drive with a solid state drive. This option will cost you some money,
but it’s cheaper than buying a
whole new computer, and there’s a good chance it will solve many of the problems that have been slowing your PC.

Lastly, Keeping your hot and cold beverages away from
your computer is one good idea if you want the machine to continue to run efficiently.

3 EASY WAYS TO FIND YOUR MAC SERIAL NUMBER

Step 1:- Use the About This Mac information panel that's in the Apple menu.
Choose this option, then click the gray version string for
your installation of OS X. This will toggle the string between showing the OS version, the
OS build number, and your system's serial number.

Step 2 :- Use the System
Information utility's "About" panel.

This is available by clicking "More Info" in the "About This Mac" panel, or by opening the tool in the Applications » Utilities folder,
then pressing Command-i. With this panel open, you can see your Mac's model number
and some hardware information in the Overview section, along with your Mac's serial number.

The system information tool also generates an in-depth system report.
This is done by:
clicking the "System Report" button in the About panel, or by opening the System Information tool directly from the Finder.
In the report, you can click the
"Hardware" section (this is the default section), then in the "Hardware Overview"
you should see the serial number listed, as well as with other details such as processor, memory, and cache information.

Step 3 :- Look up the system's
serial number in the OS X Terminal.
This may be useful if you are logged into a remote system via SSH. To do this, you will
need to use the "system_profiler" command.
This command when used by itself will generate the same lengthy report that's produced when you open the System Information utility, so used alone it may offer too much information. However, you can limit its output to showing only hardware information (which contains the system's serial number) by running the following
version of the command:
system_profiler SPHardwareDataType
This command can be further refined by piping its output through "grep" and
filtering it to only show lines that contain the word "Serial," by the following command:
system_profiler SPHardwareDataType |
grep Serial

With these steps, you should be able to locate your Mac's serial number, which is useful for verifying eligibility for warranty service or other assistance offered by Apple.

Step one: See your profile as others see it

Facebook stuff
To restrict access to your past and future
Facebook posts, click Privacy in the left pane
of the Account Settings. Then choose Limit
Past Posts under "Who can see my posts?"
and Edit to the right of "Who can see your
future posts?" in the same section. A
warning appears when you attempt to limit
access to all your past posts at once rather
than changing the setting post-by-post.
The options under "Who can contact me?" let
you limit friend requests and filter the
messages you receive. You can also restrict
who can look you up by e-mail address and
phone number, who can look up your
timeline by name, and whether your timeline
will link to search engines.
Step four: Tame your timeline and tags
You've already determined who can view your
timeline (see step one), but you can also
block friends from adding to your timeline
and review photos someone attempts to tag
you in via the Timeline and Tagging Settings.
The only two options for "Who can post to my
timeline?" under "Who can add things to my
timeline?" are Friends and Only Me. To
enable review of posts your tagged in before
they appear on your timeline, click Edit to
the right of the entry and select Enable in
the drop-down menu.
Under "How can I manage tags people add
and tagging suggestions?" you can enable
the feature that allows you to review tags
people add to your own posts before they
appear, set who besides the normal audience
sees the posts you're tagged in, and decide
whether tag suggestions appear when photos
that look like you are uploaded.
Step five: Don't let your apps run amok
Some Facebook apps grab all the permissions
they can, including access to your
information and the ability to post photos
and status updates "on your behalf." For
example, the IFTTT app lays claim to your
complete profile and all your activities, as
well as some of the profile and activities of
your friends.
To review your Facebook app permissions,
click Apps in the left pane of the Account
Settings window, choose Edit to the right of
the app's entry, and either change the app's
visibility via the drop-down menu, or click
"Remove app" at the bottom of the entry.
You can also click "Report app" to let
Facebook know the app is spam,
inappropriate, or requesting too much
information, or to contact the developer to
report a bug or abusive content, or for
another reason.
To prevent other Facebook users from
volunteering your information to the
Facebook apps they use, click Edit to the
right of "Apps others use," uncheck the
categories of information listed, and click
Save Changes.
Step six: Opt out of Facebook ads
Facebook currently doesn't let third-party
apps or ad networks use your image or name
in ads, but that may change in the future.
To opt out ahead of time, click Ads in the
left pane of the Account Settings window and
choose Edit in the Third Party Sites section.
Select "No one" in the drop-down menu
under "If we allow this in the future, show
my information to" and then click Save
Changes.
To exclude yourself from Facebook's social
ads, click Edit in the Ads & Friends section,
choose "No one" on the drop-down menu
next to "Pair my social actions with ads for,"
and select Save Changes.

HOW TO MAKE YOUR LAPTOP PERFORM FASTER

If you're noticing that your Windows
laptop runs slower and crankier the
older it gets.

Here's how to fix your laptop.
Step 1:
Buy a new battery if your laptop is
no longer portable and needs to be
tethered to the wall.
Older, nickel cadmium laptop
batteries were never designed to be
left endlessly plugged in -- as we all
do with our laptops -- and often die
before the laptop does.
Tip: Remove the battery pack from
the under side of the laptop and
perform a search for the model
number on the Internet.
Choose newer Lithium Ion, or Li-ion,
battery chemistry, if you can find
that option, for the least weight and
limited memory effect.
Step 2:
Run Windows Maintenance Tasks by
opening the Control Panel in
Windows 7 (older Microsoft operating
systems are similar), and browsing to
System & Security and then Find and
Fix Problems.
Select Run Maintenance Tasks and
allow the troubleshooter to run.
Tip: Run Maintenance Tasks will
correct maintenance issues like
excessive unused files and shortcuts.
Step 3:
Free up disk space by returning to
the Control Panel home page and
browsing to System & Security again.
Choose Free Up Disk Space from the
Administrative Tools area. The
cleanup will run and prompt you to
delete redundant files.
Tip: Freeing up disk space provides
more elbow room within the hard
drive.
Step 4:
Remove programs that you don't use
by selecting Free Up Disk Space
again. This time, choose Clean Up
System Files and then the More
Options tab.
Allow the list to populate and
uninstall programs you don't use by
double-clicking on the program
label.
Tip: Programs take up space on the
hard drive. As with the previous
step, making space helps the laptop.
Plus, fewer programs loading on
laptop startup frees RAM.
Step 5:
Defragment the hard drive by
choosing the Defragment your Hard
Drive option label adjacent to the
Free Up Disk Space label.
Click on Analyze and the tool will
analyze the disk and advise you if
defragmentation is necessary. Follow
the prompt to perform the
defragmentation.
Tip: Defragmenting physically
organizes file clusters on the hard
drive, making the day-to-day file
reading faster.
Step 6:
Turn on Windows Update by clicking
on Automatic Updating On or Off
within the same System & Security
section of the Control Panel, and
choosing Install Updates
Automatically.
Tip: Windows Update is a Microsoft
service that pushes bug fixes and
enhancements to the laptop.
Ensure the computer is running and
online at the scheduled check time.
Follow any prompts.
Step 7:
Install antivirus software. Browse to
the Microsoft Windows Consumer
Security Software Providers Web page
and choose an antivirus application.
I suggest you try the free AVG
product, but others are available
too.
Follow the prompts to install the
product and allow a scan to take
place. Follow any prompts to repair
virus damage.
Tip: You may have to delve deep
into some of the antivirus websites
to find the free version of the
product.
Step 8:
Install maintenance software. I've
used IObit's free Advanced
SystemCare, which has corrected
issues for me.
Browse to the IObit website for the
download. Install the application
and allow it to perform a Smart
Scan. Smart Scan will identify and
remove malware, fix registry issues
and scan the disk for errors, among
other optimizations.
Tip: The paid version of Advanced
SystemCare provides more in-depth
fixes.
