GOOGLE REDESIGN HANGOUTS FOR IOS USERS [SEE THE NEW FEATURES]

Google today launched a new
version of its Google+ Hangouts for iOS app.

This new version is the first to be fully optimized for iOS 7, with a new loading screen and menus, cleaner look, different typography and a couple of new features, too.

You can now, for example, attach a map with your current location to your conversation, something that’s been available in the Android version for a while.

The new version also features about 36 animated stickers. None of them.

In addition, the app now also lets you record and send video messages of up to 10 seconds long.

The new version is also fully
optimized for the iPad, Google says, and now includes picture-in-picture video calling on Apple’s tablets.

Besides Hangouts, Google also today released a very small update to Google Maps for iOS . The only major change here is that you can now choose multiple preferred modes of transit when you plan your routes.

SEE WHAT GOOGLE'S OWN ANDROID WEAR CAN DO

Google has announced it is working on Android Wear - a special Android version for wearable devices. Naturally the first target group of Android Wear is smartwatches, but the OS focus will expand to even more gadgets soon.

What's the Android Wear?

Android Wear is a special miniature version of the popular mobile OS that will allow you to interact with your wearable via voice commands and you will receive straight answers both on-screen and as voice feedback.

Here is what Android Wear can do for you:

Useful information when you need it most - Android Wear shows you info and suggestions you need, right when you need them. The wide variety of Android applications means you’ll receive the latest posts and updates from your favorite social apps, chats from your preferred messaging apps, notifications from shopping, news and photography apps, and more.

There’s a lot of possibilities here so we’re eager to see what developers build.

Google says many of them will
probably require little to no
additional updates.

Google has already partnered up with manufacturers such as Asus, HTC, LG and Samsung, plus chipmakers such as Broadcom, Imagination, Intel, Mediatek and Qualcomm.
Android Wear-powered smartwatches are already in the works and will hit the market later this year.

MOTOROLA ANNOUNCES ITS OWN SMARTWATCH BY GOOGLE - MOTO 360

Google announced its Android Wear, a project that extends Android to wearables yesterday, and Motorola is among the first to make use of Google's latest innovation.

Motorola has officially announced Moto 360, an Android Wear powered smartwatch.

Motorola's Moto 360 is said to come with a round face design and the company claims to have used premium materials to provide the much needed elegance.

Motorola says
"Moto 360 is everything you
need, with a look that you want".

With Moto 360, you can keep
yourself up to date with subtle alerts and notifications. A twist of the wrist now reveals who is calling or emailing you, what time is your next meet up or a friend's latest social status.

Moto 360 will be available in various designs across the globe, starting in the US this Summer.

SHOCKING: WINDOWS PHONES SELLS MORE THAN IPHONES IN ROMANIA

Romanian newspaper ZF.ro cites a report from a market research firm GfK, which says that Windows Phone now holds 10% market share in Romania.

While that may not sound a lot, it's enough to outsell iOS and become the second largest platform in the EU country.

Microsoft and carriers Vodafone and Cosmote Mobile have also confirmed the information

"Sales of Windows smartphones were in 2013 four times higher than in 2012,"  said Bogdan Lerescu, Head of Terminals at Vodafone Romania to ZF.

Vodafone is currently the second largest mobile carrier in the country.

In the end of 2013, research
company Kantar Worldpanel also confirmed that Windows Phone has broken the 10% barrier in the EU.

Generally, Apple doesn't perform all too well in Europe, with its market share in Germany, UK, France, Italy and Spain struggles to go past the 15% mark.

APPLE IS SET TO LAUNCH 8GB VERSION OF IPHONE 5C

Apple has an 8GB version of the iPhone 5c preparing for launch, according to a series of new rumors today.

There’s a reported leak of a
document from German carrier O2 alerting its staff to the new phone and an apparent image of a barcode identifying an 8GB blue model of the new phone, too.

The combined reports provide
pretty strong evidence that Apple is working on a smaller capacity iPhone 5c, which makes sense as a way to help it continue to apply price pressure to its line of
smartphone devices.

There’s reason to believe that
Apple offering an iPhone at that size spec would make it difficult for users to have enough space on their device for all their desired apps and media, but the company does sell an 8GB iPhone 4S alongside the iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s.

Apple does offer an increasing number of first-party apps either pre-installed or for download, some of which have considerable space demands.

But it also offers a wide range of cloud and streaming services, making on-device storage less of an issue. And the 8GB version would live alongside higher spec devices, which is sometimes a strategy used by gagdet-makers to get consumers to look at a mid-range option that they otherwise wouldn’t necessarily have considered.

There’s still no guarantee we’ll see Apple introduce this version of the iPhone 5c tomorrow, or that it will make its way to all markets, but it’s a step that would fit with possible goals of moving more 5c hardware and applying price pressure.

HTC NEW ONE GETS DLNA CERTIFICATION [ + DEMO VIDEO]

Congratulations to HTC One’s
successor on receiving its DLNA certification - labeled as HTC New One rather than the All New One, the device was certified by the DLNA organization on February 20.

The specifications of the One
successor are pretty clear at this point - 5” 1080p screen, Snapdragon 801 chipset and a Duo of 4MP cameras with advanced depth of field effects.
