CHINA HAS LAUNCHED ITS OWN OS (COS) - SET TO STOP ANDROID, IOS & MICROSOFT [MUST SEE]

China has always tried to support its homegrown tech industry and even the security concerns over U.S.
secret surveillance which gives
Chinese Government another reasons to trust domestic vendors.

Many other countries are also in favor to develop their own technology industries to reduce their dependence on U.S.

What China thinks about the monopoly of OS in the market...

The Government of China is not too fond of foreign mobile operating systems and therefore are trying to
break the monopoly of Microsoft, Apple and Google in the country.

What China plans to do...

This week at an event in Beijing, China has unveiled its own Linux-based mobile platform, dubbed China Operating System (COS),
developed as a joint effort between a company 'Shanghai Liantong', ISCAS (Institute of Software at the Chinese Academy of Sciences) and the Chinese Government.

According to COS website, it is
designed for PCs, Smartphones, tablets, TVs, set-top boxes and other smart appliances. It runs Java applications, supports HTML5 and can run over 100,000 apps.
At the launch event, the head of the ISCAS criticized Apple’s iOS for being a closed ecosystem, Android for its fragmentation issues, and Windows Phone for its poor security.

According to the promo video, the China Operating System (COS) interface and functions are much like Android, specifically very similar to HTC’s Sense 5.

However, many Chinese users are criticizing this operating system on social media sites,

“What does COS stand for? COPY OTHER SYSTEM?…
But it really does look like a fusion of the Apple, Android, Symbian, and Blackberry operating system,"

Another user commented,

"It’s not open source because they’re terrified that others will see that the source code is the same as Android, and
accuse them of cheating the
government out of money,"

Four years back, China once tried to create its own Linux-based, open mobile operating system called
"OPhone or OMS (Open Mobile System)", but it was failed to gain popularity and discontinued after 2011.

Well, do you think, China is
competing with the NSA over spying ability with a motto to leave room for backdoors or to defend themselves from NSA surveillance programs.

APPLE RELAUNCHES IPHONE 4 IN INDIA [MORE INFO]

To all my readers from india Apple is relaunching its popular iPhone 4 in the Indian market.

The phone was all the rage back in 2010 but is now barely running iOS 7 on a single-core 1 GHz processor, 512 MB of RAM and lowly 8 gigs of storage.
Then there's the pricing - instead of going for something reasonable
Apple has priced the iPhone 4 at Rs 22,900, the equivalent of around $370 i.e #59,200. That's for an 8GB version,
mind you.

It seems that the pricey iPhone 5s and uninspiring iPhone 5c aren't doing it for Apple in India where users aren't thrilled by the company removing the iPhone 5. The iPhone 4S looks a more reasonable smartphone at that price, even though it's over two-years old itself.

What do you think?

I leave you to comment on this - is the move a big slap in the face of Indian buyers, an
entirely cash-motivated move by Apple or the cheapest way to get an iOS 7 smartphone?

SAMSUNG GALAXY S5 RUMOURED TO BE RELEASED IN FEBRUARY 23 [CHECK IT OUT]

The rumors surrounding the next generation Galaxy S smartphone are coming in thick and fast.
Check out
          - Samsung Galaxy Note 3 about to be released

          - Samsung Galaxy S5 Iris Scanner

Firstly, the device was tipped for a March release, which was even backed up by a statement from the company's VP, but we then had a Samsung executive saying that their flagship
smartphone will not be showcased at the Mobile World Congress.

Now, we have another report from Mobile Review's Eldar Murtazin , who says that the hotly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone will be announced on February 23. It has to be noted that the same guy had correctly predicted the Galaxy S4 launch date last year.

Samsung Galaxy S5 launch -18.00. Barcelona. 23 February. Price the same. Launch - end of April. Specs - u know them :) new touchwiz ;)
— Eldar Murtazin (@eldarmurtazin)
January 21, 2014

Samsung will announce its 2014 flagship Galaxy S5 smartphone at a dedicated event in Barcelona on
February 23, which is a day before the Mobile World Congress kicks off.
Furthermore, Mr. Murtazin claims that the device will be available in the stores by the end of April, which alligns nicely with earlier rumors.

What are the Specs?

Meanwhile, Samsung Galaxy S5 is expected to sport a 5.2-inch display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and the device is said to offer a choice between the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset and Samsung's next generation Exynos.

The other hardware specifications of the Galaxy S5 include 3 GB of RAM, 16 megapixel rear camera,
fingerprint sensor, new TouchWiz user interface and a 3,000mAh battery.

On the other hand...

However, these are just mere speculations based on the previous rumors and there is no official confirmation at
the moment. We will keep you
posted about their recent news.

ANDROID KITKAT UPDATES IN MARCH - SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 AND NOTE 2

This might be a rumor though because it's not an official news.
A Samsung insider says that a
couple of former flagships will get updated to the latest version of Android 4.4.2 KitKat within the next couple of months. Namely, the Galaxy S3 and Note 2 should get the update by the end of March this year.

A Samsung software engineer with knowledge on the subject claims that both devices will be updated in late Q1 of this year, not long after the expected Galaxy S4 KitKat rollout.

The update will include
performance tweaks and updates, and a few new software features.
The transparent status bar, new print feature from settings, and immersive full-screen mode will be included.

ANDROID KITKAT IS NOW AVAILABLE FOR EUROPEAN HTC ONE [MUST SEE]

To all my HTC fans readers, I'm happy to inform you that the Android 4.4 kitkat is now available in Europe.

The French SFR carrier was among the first to start seeding the Android 4.4.2 KitKat to the HTC One units on its network. This is the first EU HTC One getting the update, which means other European regions and

carriers will be getting the KitKat treatment soon enough.

What has it got to offer you?

The new 4.4.2 update brings
Android 4.4.2 and its improvements plus the latest Sense 5.5 UI. Your phone will become noticeably faster
thanks to the new firmware.

Hopefully it won't take long before it'll.be available for other European countries :)

IF YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION IS NOT QUICK ENOUGH FOR YOUTUBE - GOOGLE CAN HELP YOU DETECT [CHECK IT OUT]

I know of many Blackberry who complain rather more or less have the belief that you can't you can't watch Youtube videos with BIS. It's not that it won't show the Youtube video but they claim to say "it skips". So what they do is that they watch online videos on Youtube via WiFi network.
Many are tempted to blame
stuttering YouTube streams on our internet providers, but who's really at fault?

What's the possible solution to the problem?

Google may shed some light on the subject now that it has launched a Video
Quality Report
http://www.google.com/get/videoqualityreport/#how_video_gets_to_you
. The tool tells
surfers how well their providers typically handle YouTube in a given region, breaking reliability down by the feed quality and time of day. Services that properly load at least 90 percent
of 720p videos get a "YouTube
HD Verified" badge, while those that tend to choke wind up in standard definition and lower definition categories.

Only Canadians have access to the report at the moment, although it should reach other countries in time.

What's the aim?

Wherever it goes, it should
help viewers decide whether or not it's time to switch networks -- and it just might spur some companies into making much-needed upgrades.
